Imogene Hartwick Taylor, 85, of Malvern went home to be with the Lord on July 1, 2015. Imogene was born October 1, 1929 in North Little Rock, AR to Corbett and Elmer (Dempsey) Hartwick. Imogene grew up with a love for gospel music that followed her throughout her life. She began singing at an early age and never stopped. She was always involved with the Senior Adult Center’s presentation of Hee Haw as Lulu, singing “The Mississippi Squirrel” and raising lots of laughs.
Imogene was instrumental in the development of the new Malvern Senior Adult Center. She was involved with everything from being the leader of the choir and being president of the Area Council on Aging to playing bingo and getting stuffed animals at the prize table.
She was a member of North Malvern Assembly of God for many years. Imogene loved her church family and was active in the church choir, women’s ministry, and the youth group.
Imogene was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for the infinite love she had for her family and her great home cooking, specifically her chicken and dumplings.
Imogene is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Everett Taylor; and her brother, Jackie Leo Hartwick.
Imogene is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Randel) Willson of Benton, and Pam (Mike) Balding of Malvern; 4 grandchildren, Kari (Jesse) Willson – Patterson, Amy Bratton, Brooke (Riley Groover) Balding, and Mark (Tanya) Balding; 2 great-grandchildren, James Caleb Bratton, and Jewel Balding; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends that loved her dearly.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 10:00 AM at North Malvern Assembly of God with Pastor Paul Grigsby, Keith Pennington, and Roger Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her family.
